We had the delightful opportunity to spend an evening with Leda di Timoteo and her husband in the picturesque town of Sulmona, located in the rustic landscapes of Abruzzo. Through the Home Food website, we arranged our visit, which promised a four-course culinary adventure. Despite our limited Italian and their basic English, the universal language of delicious food filled the air with anticipation and joy.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the aroma of freshly prepared dishes. Leda, our host and master of the kitchen, showcased her skills by preparing dishes like ricotta cheese ravioli sourced from a local village. The meal featured a second course of softly simmered lamb in an egg and lemon sauce—a testament to the age-old recipes passed down through generations.
Leda's dining room was a sight to behold, meticulously set with lace linens, fine crockery, silver cutlery, and crystal glasses—a presentation as exquisite as the meal itself.
Each dish was paired with stories of local traditions and Leda's personal culinary journey, enhancing our dining experience with a touch of Italian heritage.
